I design systems where humans and technology amplify each other's capabilities.
My perspective was shaped by the DIY punk community, where I learned to question assumptions and build solutions with limited resources. This outsider approach has proven surprisingly valuable when working with organizations like Google, where I applied participatory design methods to projects, and at Dyson, where my user-centered approach to physical interfaces resulted in patented designs that simplified complex interactions.
I've learnt that technical and human considerations are inseparable. To design innovations that create value we need to consider the interfaces people touch, the algorithms that power them, and crucially, the organizational processes that determine whether technology enhances or diminishes human potential.
These are the projects from the first 20 years of my career. I'm just getting started!
